Rector TransitionWritten by Wayne Whitney on May 18, 2017
February 25, 2018 is the Day of Discovery
NEW RECTOR SEARCH PROCESS
The Day of Discovery is on February 25, 2018. The Day of Discovery is the primary opportunity for The Nativity Community to provide input into the search process. From this input, The Vestry will articulate the goals for Nativity and develop criteria for the selection of a new rector. Your input is vital. After this, the search committee will be appointed by The Vestry to carry out the task of reviewing candidates. The search committee will present a short list of candidates to The Vestry. The Vestry will then discern who the best candidate is for Nativity.
Because of timing and the work required it is entirely possible that we will not have a rector called by the end of 2018. Anticipating that reality, the Vestry proposed and the congregation approved “freezing” the 2018 Vestry until our permanent rector is called.
Continuity in the Vestry during the search process is vital and is recommended by The Bishop, our consultant and Fr. Gary, all of whom have vast experience with this process. After the new rector is called, the Vestry will rotate off as normal.
