The true character of ministry is a servant's heart.

Children’s Ministry

God has a special love for the youngest among us and calls us to treasure, care for, and teach them. At Nativity, we strive to build a safe, loving, thoughtful place for children to grow in faith and community.

Children's Chapel | 10AM on Sundays

This program is for children ages 4 to 10 and occurs during the first half of the 10 am worship service.  Our children’s chapel is a unique blend of crafts, lessons, prayers, and music.  We try our best to keep it lively and fun!

This unique gathering allows children to connect with the meaning of the liturgy and the beautiful traditions of the Episcopal Church.  Children join their families in church for communion.

Year-Round Events

In addition to our weekly programs for children, we host several events with faith and fellowship in mind! Be sure to stay tuned to our Calendar of Events and Email Newsletters to learn more about:

  • Trunk-or-Treat

  • Cookies with Santa Party

  • Easter Egg Hunt

Youth Confirmation:

In keeping with Episcopal tradition, Youth Confirmation Classes offer students a chance to more fully understand what a commitment of faith really means. These classes normally meet either in Fall or Spring.

Adult Ministry

Our adult education offerings vary through the seasons, with programs for Lent, Easter, the fall, and Advent. Here is a sampling of what we have offered.

Advent Series

An adult series meeting on seasonal topics, concluding with Eucharist at 7:30 pm. Since our kids’ energies are often focused on the Christmas pageant in December, this series does not add a children’s component.

Lent

All-Ages Evenings. During Lent, we have offered an all-ages evening on Tuesday nights, as well as Soup and Study nights.

Summer Offerings

Summer months have featured Bible study — including the book of Acts — and a summer book group, with selections by Desmond Tutu, Katharine Jefferts Schori, and Diana Butler Bass.

Events

  • Chili cook-off during the summer

  • Jambalaya competitions as we enter Lent

  • Blessing of the Animals in October

  • Easter egg Hunts in the Spring

  • Halloween Trick-or-Treat

  • Potluck for Thanksgiving

  • Visits with Santa

See the bulletin for upcoming events.

Episcopal 101

After Easter, an “Episcopal Church 101” class covering church history, Episcopal polity, spirituality, liturgy, prayer, and the Church’s positions on contemporary moral issues. The class is designed for newcomers as well as those preparing to be confirmed or received as Episcopalians, for whom there is also a half-day retreat.

Power Bible Study

A powerful Sunday 40-minute study based on the appointed lectionary readings. The Rev. Wayne Whitney leads this lively conversation at 11:20 AM on Sundays (10:20 in the summer).
